Creating Emotional Safety
Why safety must come before any strategy, and how predictability, warmth, repair and tone build the felt sense of safety a child's nervous system needs to heal.

Inside this course
Almost every parenting strategy assumes a baseline that trauma quietly removes: the sense, held somewhere below conscious thought, that this place and these people are safe. For a child whose history includes frightening, chaotic or unpredictable experiences, that baseline cannot be assumed — it has to be rebuilt, deliberately and patiently, before any behaviour strategy, consequence system or communication technique has a chance of working. This course is about that rebuilding.
You'll finish with
- Explain why felt safety must precede behavioural strategy in children with trauma histories
- Identify the specific ingredients that build felt safety: predictability, warmth, repair, tone, pace and choice
- Use co-regulation to support a dysregulated child, recognising your own nervous system as the starting point
