Course overview

Inside this course

Every course in this pathway so far has kept a close focus on one child's experience — understanding what happened to them, creating safety, and supporting their healing day to day. This final course deliberately widens that lens, because a child does not recover inside a vacuum; they recover inside a family, and every member of that family is affected by what has happened, often in ways that go unspoken. Siblings absorb tension and change even when nobody has explained it to them, sometimes becoming quietly anxious, sometimes resentful of the attention a struggling brother or sister receives, sometimes taking on a caretaking role well beyond their years.

Learning outcomes

You'll finish with

  • Recognise how siblings are affected by a brother or sister's trauma and healing, and support them directly
  • Identify secondary stress and guilt in yourself or a partner, and respond to it without shame
  • Build a long-term family healing plan that fits your household's actual rhythms and resources
