Mental Health First Aid Foundations
One comprehensive starting point for teens 13–18 — understanding mental health, noticing when someone is struggling, starting the conversation, listening without fixing, panic in the moment, self-harm and risk, getting an adult involved, and looking after yourself.

Inside this course
Teenagers are usually the first to notice when a friend is struggling — in the group chat, at lunch, in a 3am post — and the least sure what to do about it. This Foundations course teaches helping skills for teens 13–18, written to be read by teens and shared with the parents supporting them. It begins with an accurate picture of mental health: something everyone has, moving along a spectrum, with the teenage years a time of both real vulnerability and real opportunity.
You'll finish with
- Understand mental health as a spectrum everyone moves along, and retire the most harmful myths
- Notice the changes that matter in a friend — in mood, behaviour, thinking, body and online
- Start a private, caring conversation and ask directly about suicide when worried
