Helping Children Understand Separation & Divorce
Age-appropriate, honest conversations that reduce fear and uncertainty in the first weeks and months of separation.

Inside this course
The moment a child learns their parents are separating is one they will likely remember for the rest of their life — not necessarily because of the news itself, but because of how it was delivered and what happened in the weeks that followed. This course is about that moment and the fragile period around it: how to tell a child what is happening in language they can actually absorb, how to recognise that a five-year-old and a fifteen-year-old will process the same news in almost unrecognisably different ways, and how to answer the questions that arrive at bedtime, in the car, or out of nowhere at the dinner table — is it my fault, will you stop loving me, will I still see you both. This course does not cover custody arrangements, two-home logistics or blended family life; those are addressed elsewhere in this pathway.
You'll finish with
- Plan and deliver an age-appropriate first conversation about separation
- Recognise how children of different ages actually express distress about separation
- Answer the hardest questions — fault, love, permanence — honestly and calmly
